The International Olympic Committee held a conference in Monte Carlo in 1993 and decided to accept beach volleyball as a full medal sport of Olympic Games.

From July 23rd to 28th 1996, the first Olympic Games beach volleyball competition was held in a 10,000-seats stadium in Atlanta, America. 24 men's teams and 24 women's teams participated in the competition.

The beach volleyball competitions also experienced great success at the 27th and 28th Olympic Games. The steps of commercialization and professionalization of the beach volleyball quickened. And the influence of beach volleyball has been increasing.
