Zhang Dan/Ma Yuanyuan: Inferior to opponents in teamwork

The quarterfinals of the 2007 FIVB Beach Volleyball Women's Challenger opened at Chaoyang Park on August 17. In the second match, the Chinese pair Zhang Dan/Ma Yuanyuan lost 0:2 to another Chinese pair Yue Yuan/Zhang Wenwen and was knocked out of the semifinals. After the match, Zhang/Ma gave an interview to reporters.
In the semiquarter finals yesterday, Zhang/Ma reversed the American strong pair 2:1 with a wonderful victory to enter the quarterfinals. But in today's match, they seemed to have failed to bring their strength into full play so as to lose the match by a large gap with the score as 15-21 and 14-21.
Regarding this, Zhang said, "We did not play well today and our mental condition was not so good as yesterday. Being both from Shandong, we two pairs know each other very well and were close in the results of the previous meetings."
As for the performance of their opponents, Zhang/Ma commented, "Yue/Zhang's attack was powerful. They have paired up for nearly six years, while we started to play in pairs only six months ago. They are better than us in teamwork and have more competing experience."
