The playing court for Beach Volleyball includes playing area and free zone. The playing court of FIVB International competitions is a rectangle measuring 8 m. X 16 m. surrounded by a free zone of a minimum of 5 m./maximum 6 m. from the end lines and the side lines, and with a space free from any obstruction up to a minimum height of 12.5 m from the playing surface. The surface of the playing court is horizontal sand beach, a minimum of 40cm deep. There are no stones, shells and the other things which are dangerous to the players. All the boundary lines in the playing court are 5-8cm wide. The colors of the boundary lines contrast sharply from the color of sand. And the boundary lines should be ribbons made of a resistant material and should be of soft, flexible materials. The net is 8.5 m long and 1 m (+/- 3 cm) wide when it is hung taut, placed vertically over the axis of the center of the court. The height of the net shall be 2.43 m for men and 2.24 m for women. It is made of 10 cm square mesh. Two color bands, 5-8 cm wide (same width as the court lines) and 1 m long, are fastened vertically to the net and placed above each sideline. They are considered part of the net. An antenna is a flexible rod, 1.8 m long and 10 mm in diameter. It is made of fiberglass or similar material. Two antennae are fastened to the outer edge of each side band and placed on opposite sides of the net The ball shall be spherical, made of a flexible material which does not absorb humidity, i.e. more suitable to outdoor conditions since matches can be played when it is raining. The ball has a bladder inside made of rubber or a similar material. It should be bright colors (such as yellow, white, orange, pink, etc.) Its circumference is 66-68cm and its weight is 260-280g and its inside pressure shall be 0.175-0.225kg/cİO.
